Kim Kardashian is officially partnering with Disney’s 20th Television.
The reality star and entrepreneur has entered into a first-look agreement with 20th TV to develop scripted series. This deal follows Kardashian’s appearances in the latest season of FX’s American Horror Story and the upcoming Hulu legal drama All’s Fair, both produced by 20th and Ryan Murphy.
Through this first-look deal, Kardashian is collaborating with her friend La La Anthony and Black-ish creator Kenya Barris on a show inspired by Anthony’s bestselling book, The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex and Happiness. The series, currently in development, is titled Group Chat; Barris is creating the show, and Anthony is set to star.
“I’m deeply invested in sharing stories that are personal, complex, and relevant, drawn from my own experiences and those close to me,” Kardashian stated. “I had the privilege of working with the outstanding team at 20th Television during American Horror Story: Delicate, and I’m thrilled to start developing my initial slate of television projects with the team led by Karey Burke and Eric Schrier, and to keep collaborating with Craig Erwich and his entire team at Hulu and Disney.”
Disney Television Group president Erwich and 20th TV head Burke remarked, “Kim embodies a multi-hyphenate role in every way, staying in tune with and shaping the zeitgeist. Her television achievements with our teams — from The Kardashians to American Horror Story: Delicate — along with her ability to captivate millions, position her uniquely to create and produce stories that are sure to impact the culture.”
Group Chat will be a joint production between 20th TV and BET Studios, where Barris holds an ownership stake. Kardashian, Anthony, and Barris will serve as executive producers, alongside Adam Kassan from Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society.
Anthony is currently starring in BMF on Starz and has a recurring role on The Chi at Showtime. Her previous work includes Power, Unforgettable, and a guest appearance on Barris’ Grown-ish. Barris’ latest projects include Diarra From Detroit for BET+ and The Vince Staples Show for Netflix.
