The first teaser trailer for Squid Game season two reveals that the game continues, even when it seems to have ended.

Netflix showcased the new footage during an in-person fan event on Thursday in Atlanta, wrapping up its Geeked Week, which focused on genre programming announcements.

It was earlier confirmed that the platform’s most popular series will return on Dec. 26, over three years after the first season became a global hit in 2021.

In the teaser, a new game begins, and a tense Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is once again drawn back into the competition as Player 456, donning the familiar green tracksuit. “We’re ready to start the game,” a voice says in Korean. You can watch the teaser below.

Alongside Lee, returning cast members for the Emmy-winning series include Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo. They will be joined by Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.

Earlier this year, Netflix revealed that Squid Game would conclude with a third and final season, slated for release in 2025.

“Seong Gi-hun, who swore revenge at the end of season one, returns to the game,” shared Squid Game executive producer, writer, and director Hwang Dong-hyuk about the show’s conclusion.

“Will he succeed in his quest for revenge? The Front Man won’t be an easy opponent this time. The intense battle between their worlds will carry on into the series finale in season three, arriving next year.”
